He is here!! (Clay's birth story)

My induction was scheduled for Tuesday but on Sunday I got a call that I had been moved up to Monday,so we got everything ready and went to bed early and got the hospital at 9 the next morning.They admitted me and checked me-and at that point I was already almost 4 cm and 80% effaced. Since I had dilated 2 more cm's in less than a week doc pretty much said that I would most likely go fast and to expect a baby the same day. They started my pitocin about 1125 am, I labored for about 2 hours and then I got an epidural, soon after she broke my water. I was so thankful it worked the first time and that breaking my water didn't hurt like it did the first time! Time went by and within a few hours I was at a 7...
I started to feel some pain around that time and when they came in to check me I was at an 8.I labored only a bit longer until I just couldn't take it anymore.I was crying and in pain and no one knew why because I had an epidural. They put a squatting bar on my bed and lowered my feet and I tried sitting up but the pain was so bad on my cervix that I couldnt relax. I cried, screamed and moaned through each contraction (they were about 30 second to a minute apart) for maybe 45 mins and then the anethesiologist came in to see what he could do. The only thing he could figure was that the meds I had been on weren't strong enough since everything they were giving me wasnt making any difference. He mixed a 3 med cocktail and ran that through my epidural and I started to feel relief. At that point I had so much in me that my legs were completely dead and everyone had to move them for me.I was checked but was only at an 8 so
I rested for about 4 or so hours and then started to hurt again. I kept getting checked but wouldn't move past the 8 cm's and then the baby's head started to swell against my cervix.so we stopped the pitocin for a bit and then started again. As soon as we started it again, his head started swelling and so did my cervix. My cervix was still at the 8 and wouldn't completely thin out on one side..so he was stuck.
Once again I was in complete pain..
At this point it was about 6 in the morning on tuesday and the doctor decided that there wasn't anything else we could do-and that we had to do a C section. I was so devestated and terrified. The only thing I've ever had done was my D&C and I was scared then too. They gave me more pain meds and once I was ok to move they got us ready and rolled me to the O.R.
Once we got in there and saw that somehow my epidural had gotten pulled out so that was most likely why I started hurting the second time but by then it was too late to fix it.so I had to hunch over again and stay still through my contractions and get a spinal block. After we we're ready Will came in and they started. I was a little upset that I was so groggy but there really wasn't anything to be done since I'd had so many meds by that point.

Clayton Edward was born at 807 am on April 6th and he weighed 8 lbs 4 oz and was 21 inches long. And doc say he was crammed in there pretty tight and there was no way he would have fit, his little head was swollen on one side where he had been stuck.
So, it was definitely not the easy, fast labor that EVERYONE thought I'd have..but that's ok. He's here now and he is so precious. I still can't believe he's here and that all our patience and hard work and tears paid off...and I'd go through the heartache again to know he'd be mine in the end.
We had some weight issues and had to supplement for a few days while we waited for my milk to come in-but we went back to the hospital today and he has gained 7 oz's back in 2 days so we are done supplementing!! yay!!
